WCBA Member Update
Dear Washington Coin & Bullion Association (WCBA) Members and Supporters:
We have some big news to share, and we want you to feel as encouraged as we do about the progress made in just the last few weeks.
HB 2115 Has Been Officially Pre-Filed
Our repeal bill—restoring the 1985 exemptions for precious metals and bullion—is now formally filed in the Legislature as HB 2115.
Prime Sponsor: Rep. Amy Walen (D)
Co-Sponsors: Rep. Ed Orcutt (R) and Rep. Jeremie Dufault (R)
This is a major step forward and reflects the work happening behind the scenes every single day.
We Will Have More to Announce Next Week
We are actively working with Senate leadership and will be sharing an update soon about our progress on the Senate side. Things are moving quickly in the right direction.
But we also have serious news:
The 2026 Boeing Employees Coin Club Show has been officially cancelled.
The show—one of Washington’s oldest and most respected—was scheduled for January 17–18. It was cancelled because the new tax law means very few dealers are willing to attend.
This is exactly the economic fallout we warned legislators about.
The cancellation notice is here:
This real-world impact is already helping legislators understand the urgency of repealing the tax.
What We Need From You Right Now (Three Quick Actions)
1) Donate (if you haven’t yet)
Our lobbyists will be extremely busy in Olympia as session begins, and their work is funded entirely by your contributions.
You can donate directly on our website: www.washingtoncoinandbullionassoc.org/donate
(Recommended giving levels are listed lower on the donation page.)
If you’ve already donated—thank you!
If you’re able to increase your support to match the suggested level for your business, it will make a meaningful difference.
2) Contact Your Two State House Members
We need as many House members as possible to add their names to HB 2115 before session begins.
Please take two minutes to send a message encouraging them to co-sponsor.
Find your legislators here: https://app.leg.wa.gov/districtfinder
Email addresses for all House members: https://app.leg.wa.gov/Rosters/Members/House
You can use the draft message in our official call-to-action document:
These emails from constituents are extremely influential.
3) Share This Message
Please forward this update to colleagues, customers, industry contacts, and anyone who would be affected by this tax.
Every voice helps us push HB 2115 forward.
Thank You
We are making real progress—because of you.
Your donations, outreach, and engagement are what allow us to keep fighting this tax and protect our industry in Washington.
Please stay tuned for another update next week with more developments on the Senate side.
With appreciation,
President Carolyn Beko and the WCBA Board
